Position Summary

 

The Sr. Engineering Specialist serves as a technical leader supporting manufacturing systems, automation platforms, and engineering initiatives within a regulated medical device and pharmaceutical environment. This role is responsible for optimizing equipment performance, driving continuous improvement efforts, supporting validation activities, and ensuring the reliability of critical systems that support business operations.

As a subject matter expert, you will partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex technical challenges, implement system enhancements, support project execution, and maintain compliance with GMP and change control requirements. You will play a key role in identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and support business continuity through innovative engineering solutions.

This position works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Maintenance, and external partners to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of production and support systems.

 

In This Role, You Will Have the Chance To:

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for designated manufacturing, automation, and control systems.

  • Analyze equipment, processes, and infrastructure to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable engineering solutions.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment and system issues while ensuring compliance with GMP requirements and change control procedures.

  • Support software lifecycle activities, system upgrades, maintenance, and performance optimization efforts.

  • Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, operating procedures, and engineering records.

  • Support commissioning, qualification, validation, and testing activities in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Lead or support medium-complexity engineering projects from planning through implementation.

  • Anticipate technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and recommend solutions to improve operational reliability and business continuity.

  • Train and mentor users and peers on system functionality, best practices, and operational procedures.

  • Coordinate and oversee contractors and consultants supporting engineering initiatives.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience supporting manufacturing, automation, controls, or regulated production environments.

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and supporting automated equipment and control systems.

  • Strong understanding of GMP requirements, change control processes, validation methodologies, and documentation practices.

  • Experience authoring technical documents, specifications, SOPs, protocols, and engineering reports.

  • Ability to independently manage engineering projects and prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively resolve complex technical challenges.

  • Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.

  • Valid driver's license and passport required.

 

Preferred Experience Includes

  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and manufacturing control systems.

  • Experience supporting equipment qualification, process validation, and computer system validation activities.

  • Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence programs.

  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects and managing external contractors or consultants.

Salary-  $126,079 - $157,000/ Annual 

 

 

The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
