Job Summary:
The Buyer I is responsible for managing a portfolio of purchased raw materials sourced from third-party domestic suppliers. This role includes reviewing demand requirements, issuing purchase orders, monitoring delivery schedules, and maintaining targeted inventory levels. Working closely with departments—such as Production, Planning, Sales/Marketing, Engineering, and Quality—to ensure customer needs and business objectives are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of purchased raw materials and monitor inventory levels.
- Review demand requirements and issue purchase orders to suppliers.
- Track supplier delivery schedules and performance.
- Analyze supplier quotations and recommend sourcing decisions.
- Support supplier negotiations and contract activities.
- Research market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and documentation.
- Partner with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and suppliers to support business needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and supply chain operations.

Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s degree or technical degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 0 - 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated industries.
- APICS, ISM, or other supply chain-related certifications.
- Experience working directly with suppliers and inventory management systems.

- Understanding of purchasing and supply chain processes.
- Ability to evaluate supplier performance and delivery schedules.

Salary Range: $68,700-$78,700
The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
