The Clinical Training Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing clinical training programs for dialysis nurses and healthcare staff. The role ensures that all clinical personnel are competent in dialysis procedures, patient care, infection control, and emergency response. The Clinical Training Officer collaborates closely with nursing leadership, nephrologists, and quality assurance teams to uphold the highest standards of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Training Program Design and Delivery
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive clinical training programs for dialysis nurses.
- Conduct new hire orientation covering dialysis protocols, patient care standards, and compliance requirements.
- Deliver hands-on clinical training on dialysis procedures, vascular access management, and emergency response.
- Facilitate continuing education programs to keep staff updated on clinical advancements and best practices.
- Apply diverse training methodologies including classroom instruction, simulations, demonstrations, and case-based learning.
Competency Assessment and Development
- Evaluate nurse competencies through direct observation, written exams, practical assessments, and case-based scenarios.
- Develop and implement competency-based training frameworks and assessments.
- Identify skills gaps and create individualized development plans.
- Provide one-on-one coaching, mentoring, and feedback to enhance clinical performance and decision-making.
Clinical Simulation and Emergency Preparedness
- Conduct simulation-based training on dialysis-related emergencies (e.g., hypotension, air embolism, cardiac arrest).
- Ensure readiness of staff to respond effectively to critical clinical situations.
Training Materials and Curriculum Management
- Develop, review, and update training manuals, SOPs, and e-learning modules.
- Ensure all learning materials align with current evidence-based practices and international dialysis standards.
- Continuously improve training content based on feedback, audit results, and clinical updates.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to local healthcare regulations and international clinical standards (DOH, PNA, KDIGO, KDOQI, ISO).
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to conduct audits and monitor compliance.
- Train staff on infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and risk management protocols.
- Prepare nurses for accreditation, certification, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Engagement
- Work closely with nephrologists, dialysis technicians, QA teams, and patient care teams to ensure effective training implementation.
- Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies, academic institutions, and external training providers.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and conferences to support continuous professional development.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, competency assessments, and certifications.
- Conduct post-training evaluations to measure effectiveness and impact on patient care quality.
- Prepare monthly and annual reports on training outcomes, skill gaps, and improvement initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement by integrating feedback and updating training strategies accordingly.
What you will bring to the team:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active PRC license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field is an advantage
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in dialysis nursing, with at least 2 years in training, mentoring, or supervisory roles
- Strong clinical expertise in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis procedures
- Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and training delivery
- In-depth knowledge of dialysis principles, fluid and electrolyte management, and infection control practices
- Proficiency in dialysis equipment (e.g., Fresenius, Baxter, Nipro, B. Braun, Nikkiso) and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and clinical risk management
