Contract: Full time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

As a leader in healthcare solutions, we are looking for a passionate Transport Operations Manager to join our dynamic Supply Chain team. In this newly created position, with multi-site responsibility, you will play a crucial role in driving efficiency and improving service by shaping and optimising our transport solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Team Development: Build and lead a centralised team to manage the main transport requirements for delivering our products to various customers and patients.
  • Fleet Management: ‘O’ Licence responsibility and the oversight of a small internal fleet of light goods vehicles (LGVs - approx. 10 vehicles – 3.5 & 7.5 tonne vans), ensuring high standards of performance and compliance.
  • Leadership: Work closely with multiple external transport and carrier service providers to meet our operational needs for our busy UK service.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to Health & Safety standards and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) as regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within our business; and with haulier partners, LTL service providers, and parcel carriers.
  • Collaboration: Partner with our Procurement team and Operational teams to achieve service expectations and KPIs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and overall performance.

 

What do I need to succeed:

  • Qualifications: Valid National / International CPC (essential) and experience of holding an O Licence.
  • Experience: Proven track record in managing a busy and reactive transport operation, in healthcare or a similar highly regulated sector.
  • Skills: Strong influencing, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with transport planning and scheduling systems.
  • Attributes: A customer and patient-focused mindset, excellent problem-solving ability, and the ability to thrive in challenging situations.
