Build the Semantic Foundation of the Digital Product Lifecycle

The Corporate PLM Office and the Center of Competence (CoC) PLM are shaping the future of Product Lifecycle Management at B. Braun. As part of this journey, we are establishing a company-wide semantic information landscape that enables product information to be understood, connected, governed, and reused across systems, processes, and organizational boundaries.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced Semantic Product Information Architect (m/f/d). In this strategically important role, you will define, harmonize, and govern product-related information models, creating the semantic foundation for Digital Thread capabilities, advanced analytics, AI-driven solutions, and data-centric business processes.

You will work closely with stakeholders across PLM, the Corporate Data Framework (CDF), Data Intelligence Platform (DIP), Enterprise Architecture, and business functions involved throughout the product lifecycle.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define, model, and maintain semantic information structures within the product data landscape.
  • Design and evolve a consistent semantic information model spanning the entire product lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain semantic relationships, mappings, and traceability between information objects and system data records.
  • Define information objects, attributes, relationships, and business semantics in alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Harmonize product-related terminology, definitions, and information concepts across business units and functions.
  • Ensure consistency between semantic information models and implemented data structures within PLM and connected systems.
  • Support the development of Digital Thread, traceability, and product reference framework concepts.
  • Analyze and structure complex relationships between products, variants, components, documentation, and regulatory information.
  • Collaborate closely with Corporate Data Framework and Data Intelligence Platform teams to align enterprise information models.
  • Define and coordinate product-related information objects for enterprise-wide publication and reuse.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of company-wide information standards and governance practices.
  • Facilitate workshops to drive information harmonization and semantic alignment across domains.
  • Advise business and functional teams on semantic modeling and product information architecture topics.
  • Support projects in defining and implementing standardized information models.
  • Document and communicate semantic standards, modeling principles, and governance guidelines.

 

Professional Competencies:

  • Successfully completed studies in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, Information Management, or a comparable field.
  • Several years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
    • Information Architecture
    • Enterprise Information Management
    • Data Governance
    • Master Data Management (MDM)
    • Knowledge Graphs
    • Semantic Technologies / Semantic Web
  • Strong understanding of product data structures and product development processes.
  • Experience in modeling information entities, relationships, metadata, and conceptual data models.
  • Knowledge of semantic modeling methodologies, ontologies, taxonomies, or knowledge graphs is considered an advantage.
  • Experience with enterprise data platforms, data catalogs, governance solutions, or information management environments is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of Systems Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), or Enterprise Architecture is beneficial.
  • Experience within regulated industries such as Medical Technology, Pharmaceuticals, or Life Sciences is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, information governance, and information lifecycle management principles.
