An Exciting Career Opportunity Exists for a Bench Technician based in the Western Cape

This is a full-time, permanent position based in the Western Cape. This position will be responsible for Servicing, Fault-finding / troubleshooting, and Repairs on a range of AIS medical equipment.

                

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair,  disinfect, and evaluate a range of AIS medical equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, software installation and electrical safety testing of equipment according to B. Braun AG Service documentation (CoE)
  • Diagnosis of equipment malfunctions and perform corrective action
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenance
  • Review outcome of preventative maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements
  • Arrange service activities according to the schedule matrix
  • Attend to customer call outs
  • Manage and arrange back-up equipment and stock when arrived
  • Monthly reports per Technician pertaining to devices Repair, PM Services, Commission, and installations on site
  • From time-to-time Management will require you to perform tasks outside of the abovementioned Job Description

 

Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • Electrical / Mechanical Engineering National Diploma / B. Tech Degree
  • Registration with CEASA will be advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years' and above working experience in the medical field, preferable on auto infusion equipment
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology and applied to use of biomedical equipment
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical equipment

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, planning, and organizational skills.
  • High level of personal discipline
  • Valid driver's license, passport, and a reliable vehicle
  • Presentable and neat, reliable, and trustworthy team member
  • Analytical and logical thinking ability
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Able to travel extensively into other provinces and the SADC countries.
  • Must take accountability for his/her actions when dealing with equipment used on patients.

 

Physical Requirements of the Job:

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to push/pull equipment and to kneel, stand, bend, and reach during equipment repair.
  • Skill in manual dexterity, hand-to-eye coordination, and color vision
