For our Global Research & Development and Pharma Product Compliance department in the Hospital Care division, we are looking for a Packaging Development Engineer (m/f/d) Pharma at the earliest possible date.

The Exploratory R&D organization is responsible for the evaluation and early development of all future products within the Center of Excellence Pharmaceuticals, including drugs, infusion solutions, and parenteral nutrition. A Packaging Engineer (m/f/d) in the Exploratory Team will conduct and coordinate feasibility studies for novel concepts and proposals for our future portfolio, covering all pharmaceutical packaging systems and filling technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • You will develop new pharmaceutical packaging materials and their components up to the project start based on the product requirements to be met. In doing so, you will also develop industrial concepts and profitability analyses in collaboration with colleagues from the Process Engineering department and Controlling.
  • You will conduct feasibility studies and coordinate the prototype production for new pharmaceutical packaging, especially primary packaging and the necessary process technologies for the Center of Excellence Pharma. This includes, among other things, design drafts for new packaging materials or packaging components, their testing, and proposals for their potential industrial production.
  • You will define product profiles and requirements in collaboration, for example, with global marketing and the regulatory department and then create concrete solution proposals, including the evaluation of material and process costs.
  • You will present your work results to the established committees of the CoEs, for example, and depending on the subject area, at the Portfolio Management Meeting, the Project Management Board, or Pharma Steering upon reaching critical milestones or for project initiation.
  • You will contribute your own suggestions and ideas, particularly with regard to new developments, process optimization of manufacturing or filling, cost reduction, and improvement of sustainability aspects.
  • You will support new patent applications as a technical expert and conduct freedom-to-operate analyses.

Professional Competencies:

  • You have at least a successfully completed master’s degree in engineering, ideally with additional qualifications in polymer or material sciences or medical technology.
  • You also have several years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical or medical technology industry, with particularly relevant experience in the development of packaging materials and processes for pharmaceutical products.
  • You have extensive knowledge and technical understanding of pharmaceutical packaging materials, their properties, manufacturing processes, and product requirements.
  • Ideally, you also have basic knowledge in the field of intellectual property, and project management skills are particularly appreciated.
  • Your profile is completed by very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken; knowledge of French is not a must but is welcomed.

Personal Competencies:

  • You work successfully in international and multidisciplinary teams.
  • You are curious and quickly integrate newly learned information into your considerations.
  • You possess a high degree of proactivity and creativity, communicate clearly, and behave responsibly.
  • You are willing to travel occasionally for business (up to 10% of working time, mainly in Central Europe).

Benefits:

  • Company networks
  • Company pension scheme
  • Mobility options, e.g., the B. Braun Job Ticket or Job Bike
  • Offers around work & family, e.g., holiday care
  • Flexible working hours
