Within our department of Global Indirect Procurement, we are looking for a Category Manager (f/m/d) Logistics at a European B. Braun site at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to 18 months.


The Global Indirect Procurement function within the B. Braun Group is being transformed right now and synergies across divisions, regions and countries are considered. The primary axis of the new operating model is a categorization of product & service groups (categories). Sourcing & Procurement of Logistics such as transportation, warehousing and logistic services have been identified as a global procurement category. There is a significant spend involved and both country/regional but also global perspectives needs to be considered to not only support the Group’s Sustainability efforts from a procurement perspective.



Tasks and Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for formulating and implementing a global category strategy within the global procurement strategy framework as well as for representing procurement towards external business partners and higher management.
  • Conducting a profound analysis on spending and the supplier portfolio as well as the monitoring of market developments, innovations and technology trends also falls within your area of responsibility.
  • You will also lead cross-functional category working groups, facilitate category councils and align the category strategy with business partners.
  • Furthermore, you are responsible for preparing a strategic sourcing approach, the sourcing execution as well as the review of processes, tenders, negotiations, contracts and supplier awarding with the goal to achieve bundling effects and synergies.
  • In addition, making sure your team achieves its KPIs and considers the possibilities of supplier innovations also falls within the area of your responsibilities.

 

Professional Competencies

  • You have successfully completed studies in logistics management, business administration, economics or a related field.
  • You have professional experience in transportation or warehousing logistics (such as forwarder, carrier or shipper industry) and your repertoire includes market intelligence for logistics category specific needs.
  • You must have a proficient understanding of the end-to-end Procurement process (Plan-to-Strategy, Source-to-contract) as well as in-depth knowledge of your assigned category and future trends.
  • You should have a basic understanding of change management.
  • You must neither be wary of negotiations nor of managing supplier relationships including supplier escalations.
  • You should have some experience with the application of Procurement standards (Procurement policies, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.).
  • You should feel comfortable in the legal and regulatory environment and have a visionary and strategic mindset.
  • You should be confident in the professional application of English in both spoken and written form, other language skills, especially in the German language, are of advantage.
