We are seeking an experienced Back-End Developer & DevOps Engineer to join our edge runtime development team and contribute to our cloud-based medical software solutions. At B. Braun, we are building the future backbone for cloud-connected active medical devices. This is an opportunity to contribute to highly reliable backend systems that operate across cloud and on-premises environments. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team shaping secure and distributed platforms that impact healthcare worldwide.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement backend APIs and orchestration logic for distributed systems 

  • Work with event-driven messaging systems (e.g., MQTT, Kafka, NATS) for cloud-edge communication 

  • Build and manage Kubernetes-based infrastructure, including custom automation where needed 

  • Contribute to secure, high-performance deployment pipelines and service lifecycles 

  • Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and fellow engineers in an agile environment

 

Professional competencies 

  • Strong experience in backend development with Go (or similar languages like Python, .NET, or Java) 

  • Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native architecture 

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and distributed event-driven architectures is advantageous 

  • Bonus: Familiarity with custom Kubernetes Operators or distributed system design 

 

Personal competencies 

  • Strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and a pragmatic approach to solving complex engineering challenges 

  • Attention to detail, with a drive to deliver while maintaining an overall perspective 

  • Ability to balance high-quality standards with fast execution 

  • Self-starter, continuous learner, and effective networker

  • Agile mindset and enjoyment of working in a start-up environment

  • Fluent English communication skills; German is a plus but not required
