Position Summary

The Buyer/Planner is a key role within the Site Supply Chain organization, responsible for understanding and applying supply chain management concepts in a global business environment. This position ensures continuity of material supply, quality, and overall cost management in alignment with Company policy and financial and operational performance standards.

Key Performance Indicators include customer service levels, production schedule attainment, and inventory coverage targets.

Work Arrangement:
This role is 100% onsite and requires presence five (5) days per week.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

  • Establish specifications for optimal purchase and/or production quantities, required quality levels, and budget cost impact
  • Select suppliers based on product type, quality, and partnership potential
  • Negotiate contracts covering cost, delivery, handling, and penalties for late delivery or cost overruns
  • Manage production schedules for “make” items to balance inventory stock levels
  • Support NPI, R&D, Validation, and Sustainability projects involving replacement or introduction of new raw materials and/or processes
  • Manage the full purchasing cycle, including requisitions, purchase order creation, follow‑up, goods receipt, and final payment
  • Monitor supplier performance using the Supplier Scorecard program and manage corrective actions
  • Create, monitor, verify data accuracy, and maintain planning master data in the ERP system
  • Define inventory management strategies and objectives
  • Minimize inventory investment by maintaining optimal inventory levels aligned with manufacturing and financial KPIs
  • Identify process and system improvement opportunities using root cause analysis and lean tools
  • Implement solutions that reduce inventory and eliminate non‑value‑added activities
  • Control incoming freight and handling costs

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Full working knowledge of relevant business practices and procedures
  • Apply standard theories, principles, and concepts to propose effective courses of action
  • Work under minimal supervision and use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Exercise judgment in resolving day‑to‑day problems
  • May assist in orienting, training, assigning, and reviewing the work of lower‑level employees
  • Regular interaction with supervisors, leads, peers, and external vendors

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of Supply Chain experience
    OR
  • Combination of 2+ years of Supply Chain experience and applicable industry or professional certification (CPIM and/or CSCP)

Preferred

  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as healthcare or pharmaceutical
  • Working knowledge of an ERP system; SAP preferred

 

Compensation Range: $87,900-$97,900

The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The range provided is a reasonable estimate.
