Your key responsibilities:
- Lead, plan, and continuously improve plant Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) strategies, programs, and performance in line with organizational goals.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and advisor to the Plant Head and Management Team on all EHS-related matters, risks, and regulatory obligations.
- Ensure full compliance with Malaysia EHS regulations and applicable standards, proactively addressing current and upcoming regulatory requirements.
- Establish, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Plant EHS Management System, including:
- Workplace safety inspections
- Incident investigation and reporting
- Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC)
- Emergency response preparedness
- Machinery and equipment safety
- Industrial hygiene
- Environmental quality compliance - Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the MP EHS team; identify competency gaps and build a strong, capable EHS function.
- Chair and provide guidance to the EHS Committee, driving engagement and a strong safety culture across the plant.
- Represent the plant during regulatory inspections, audits, enforcement actions, and engagements with authorities (e.g. DOSH, DOE, BOMBA and Atomic Energy Dept).
- Oversee EHS audits, data management, documentation, and record retention in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to embed EHS ownership across all levels of the organization.
- The job function listed is not exhaustive and shall also include any responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or an EHS-related discipline.
- Must hold a valid Green Book as a Registered Safety and Health Officer with DOSH.
- Registered as an RPO/RPS with the Atomic Energy Department is an additional advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing / plant environment, with at least 3 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
- Strong working knowledge of Malaysia EHS legislation, including but not limited to OSHA 1994, Environmental Quality Act 1974, Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984, and all related amendment Acts and the subsidiary Regulations under all above-mentioned Acts.
- Proven experience advising senior plant leadership and influencing stakeholders across functions.
- Solid leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance compliance and operational needs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in Sustainability, Business Continuity Planning, or Crisis Management.
- Exposure to machinery safety standards (IEC / ISO / ANSI / SEMI) and Fire Life Safety standards (FM Global / NFPA).
