As a Data Architect in the Group Digital Department, you will contribute to the development of B. Braun’s Digital Foundation by shaping a consistent and business‑driven data architecture.

Functionally you are trained and guided by the Center of Competence (CoC) Corporate Data Management. Your work will focus on projects within the Digital Foundation - our customer oriented platform providing modular standard to develop new or integrate digital solutions in a safeguarded and efficient way - and our Data, Analytics & AI Ecosystem the Data Intelligence Platform (DIP). A key initial responsibility will be to establish the data architecture for the Analytics part of the Digital Foundation (Data Hub).

The role has a strong business perspective, with emphasis on clarifying the business semantic layer and translating it into high‑quality conceptual and logical data models. You will work hands‑on with Metadata managed in the Enterprise Data Catalog (dataspot) and perspectively other catalogs to make data understandable, reusable, and interoperable across data domains.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support projects of the Digital Foundation, with focus on data architecture within the Data Intelligence Platform ecosystem
  • Design and maintain conceptual and logical data models that reflect business meaning and domain semantics
  • Clarify, structure, and harmonize business semantics, business objects, and relationships across data domains
  • Operate and continuously develop the Enterprise Data Catalog (dataspot) as the central place for data models and business definitions
  • Contribute to the data architecture of the Data Hub, ensuring semantic consistency and architectural alignment
  • Collaborate with domain experts, data stewards, and technical teams to align business intent with data structures
  • Analyze impacts of new requirements and support architectural decision‑making within projects
  • Foster and mature the understanding of why metadata management is a key capability to effectively embed technologies like AI, Advanced Analytics, and Automation in the company.

 

Competencies

  • Solid understanding of business data modeling (conceptual and logical)
  • Strong ability to present complex topics in a simple way to various stakeholders and be able to transfer business requirements into data requirements to fit it into the data architecture
  • Interest in and ability to work with business semantics, terminology, and domain concepts
  • Basic understanding of modern data platforms and data architectures (experience with physical modeling is a plus, not a must)
  • Familiarity with data governance, data lineage, and metadata management is an important advantage
  • Ability to learn and work with enterprise tools such as Enterprise Data Catalogs
  • Experience in project environments and cross‑functional collaboration

Gross annual salary starting from €75,000, depending on the candidate’s profile and experience.
